RETURN JOURNEY - A Jazz Portrait of Europe

This is the Moovin' and Groovin' Orchestra's latest recording. It's a double CD with 16 tracks all composed and arranged by Ken Schroder, who was returning in 2007 to visit the people and places he knew many years ago whilst based in London.

9 tracks feature vocalist Michelle Nicolle, there are vocal cameo performances from Rebecca Barnard and David Williamson and the remaining 5 tracks are instrumentals.

The songs are about travelling and about people and places and food; they capture the moods, styles, and even cliches associated with travel.

This music spans a wide range with flavours from Istanbul in the east to London in the west, but it's all big band jazz with improvisation at the heart of it.

As well as the music, there is a liftout page of stories and lyrics that go with each tune. It's set like a newspaper and includes photos from this travel experience which began in Greece, went as far east as Istanbul, and moved back west to Londonn, via Italy, France, the Czech Republic and Germany. The whole musical tour ends up with the "Blues Around the World".

"I took the blues around the world and brought them right back home with me."

... and very happy to have done so.
