HOW DID THEY START ?      WHAT DO THEY PLAY?     WHERE HAVE THEY PLAYED?

The band’s repertoire is extensive, with over 250 arrangements written in house by band members.  So, even if tackling an old favorite, it's not a cover you'll be hearing, but an MGO interpretation.

The band has dug deeply into the legacy of swing music including the likes of Duke Ellington and Count Basie.  MGO also has an extensive repertoire of Latin American music (e.g. Machito, Tito Puente and Dizzy Gillespie), and covers all the great Hollywood/Broadway songwriters from Cole Porter through Harold Arlen to George Gershwin. The band enjoys playing soul/rhythm and blues and now also has a growing list of original compositions.

A recent departure from the mainstream was to put together a concert performance of music from Porgy & Bess and there are more plans afoot for interesting new repertoire.
